How Long Does a Lash Lift Last? (And How to Make It Last Longer)
A lash lift is one of the easiest ways to open up your eyes and skip mascara — but before you book, it helps to know how long the results actually last and how to get the most from them. The short answer: a lash lift typically lasts 6–8 weeks. Here's what affects that, plus simple aftercare to help every treatment last as long as possible.
How long does a lash lift last?
Most lash lifts last 6–8 weeks. Rather than dropping off suddenly, a lash lift gradually relaxes as your natural lashes grow and shed, so there's no obvious grow-out line — your lashes simply return to their natural shape over time. Because the treatment works with your own lash cycle, the exact timing varies a little from person to person.
What affects how long your lash lift lasts?
A few things influence whether you're closer to the 6-week or the 8-week end of the range:
- Your natural lash cycle. Everyone sheds and regrows lashes at a slightly different rate. Faster growth means the lift grows out a touch sooner.
- The first 24–48 hours. This is when the lift sets. Getting lashes wet, steamy or made-up too soon is the most common reason results don't last.
- Your aftercare. Oil-based products, rubbing your eyes and sleeping face-down all shorten a lift.
- Whether you add a tint. A tint doesn't change how long the lift lasts, but it keeps lashes looking darker and more defined for longer.
Lash lift aftercare: how to make it last longer
The first 24–48 hours
This window matters most. Keep lashes dry and makeup-free: avoid water, steam, saunas, swimming, hot showers and eye makeup, and try not to touch or rub them while the lift sets.
After the first two days
Once the lift has set you can return to your normal routine. To get the full 6–8 weeks:
- Use oil-free cleansers and skincare around the eyes — oil breaks down the lift.
- Be gentle: pat the eye area dry rather than rubbing.
- Skip waterproof mascara and harsh removers (most people find they don't need mascara at all).
- Brush lashes through with a clean spoolie to keep them neat.
- Consider a nourishing lash serum to keep your natural lashes healthy.
- Try to sleep on your back or side rather than face-down into the pillow.
Can you shower, swim or wear makeup with a lash lift?
Yes — after the first 24–48 hours you can shower, swim, exercise and wear eye makeup as normal. Just favour oil-free products and remove makeup gently, and your lift will stay looking its best for longer.
How often should you get a lash lift?
Because results last 6–8 weeks, most clients rebook every 6–8 weeks to keep that lifted, wide-eyed look going. It's best to let the previous lift grow out fully before your next treatment, so your natural lashes stay healthy. Not sure a lift is right for you?
